If you are into Tex-Mex cuisine (like I am), then Tijuana Flats is the place for you. You can find a Tijuana Flats in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia, Pennsylvania and Indiana. A couple of days ago I (and a handful of bloggers) had the pleasure to taste Tijuana Flats new menu items. The new Hemp Burritos. They are all made with hemp seed tortillas which are high in protein and Omega-3. The hemp tortilla has the same texture as a typical white tortilla but with added health bonuses. Win, win!
We started the night with the traditional chips, salsa, queso (cheese), and guacamole.
Then went on to the Atom Bombs, which where the “bomb” (a little food humor). Made by lightly frying tortillas, filled with cream cheese, cheddar and fresh jalapenos. Served with Smack Sweet Sauce (a short version of the real name, look up the whole name). It’s just the right amount of heat and combined with the sauce…it’s the bomb. You can’t eat just one, they are addictive.
To start the hemp burritos we all tasted the Pie Roller. I predict that my youngest daughter will love this dish. She may take the veggies out, we’ll see. The Pie Roller is a hemp pizza burrito with pepperoni with red sauce, mozzarella cheese, fajita peppers, onions and mushrooms.
Next, we had the hemp burrito that became my favorite. The Tree Hugger burrito. This is a vegetarian hemp burrito loaded with roasted poblanos, mushrooms, onions, cilantro, scallions and cream cheese.
Last, but not least, the most anticipated hemp burrito of the night. The Sweet Hemptation. A hemp burrito filled with crispy chicken, churros, cinnamon, sugar, maple syrup, queso (cheese), bacon and onions. The flavors did work together and was my oldest daughter’s favorite. For me it was a little dry, but apparently it’s not for many since is one of Tijuana Flats favorite hemp burrito. All three hemp burritos came out with tortillas.
For dessert we all enjoyed the Banana Empanadas with bananas, cinnamon sugar and topped with powder sugar served with a side of caramel sauce. A perfect dessert to eat, not so good as left overs, but who are we kidding…there won’t be any left overs.
Tijuana Flats has just about everything (in one stop) for everyone in your family. Go visit a Tijuana Flats in your area and try the new hemp burritos before they are no longer in the menu.

I like the new twist to the common wheat and/or flour tortilla. Out of all these items here listed, my favorite was the Pie Roller (Pizza lover here) & the Banana Empanadas were REALLY GOOD!!!
