A few years back I made a Topsy Turvy cake for my niece’s birthday. Somehow I can’t seem to find the picture in any of my files. Luckily my friend’s daughter was turning 15 years old at the beginning of this month (September) and gave me a call to make her a cake. It is always an honor for me to be part of my friends special moments.
The request was to make to top of the turvy cake, a small cake, it was to share amongst them four (the household). The colors to include were; lilac, fuchsia, blue, brown and lime green. A big “15” on top with lots of stars was a must and for the flavor she wanted it to be a rum cake. We in Puerto Rico call it a “Puertorican Cake”, which basically is a cake soaked with a simple syrup that contains rum. It can be a gold rum or brandy.

Wanda, I love the colors on this cake! It somehow has that slight natural brown hint on every color. Very pleasing to the eye.
Thanks, I also loved the way it turned out. Most importantly; the birthday girl loved it!
